Florindo Chivucute | Executive Director & Founder

Florindo Chivucute is the founder and Executive Director of Friends of Angola (FOA), established in 2014 to strengthen Angola’s civil society. With a Master’s in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, he has pioneered innovative approaches to democratic engagement through projects like Radio Angola and the Zuela democracy app. As Lead Project Director, Florindo manages complex initiatives focused on human rights, youth empowerment, and civic participation. His research on kleptocracy and Angola-China relations has informed international policy discussions. Under his leadership, FOA has secured partnerships with prominent organizations including the National Endowment for Democracy, U.S. Embassy in Angola, REDRESS, and Transparency International. Florindo’s strategic approach emphasizes stakeholder collaboration and sustainable community impact. He oversees project delivery while maintaining strong relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and government officials to ensure lasting positive change in Angola’s civic space.

Massilon Chindombe | Project Manager

Massilon Chindombe brings extensive expertise in human rights activism, IT, and community organization through his years of grassroots advocacy work. Drawing from direct experience with local communities, he has developed deep insights into regional challenges and effective engagement approaches. As Project Manager, he leads ground implementation by leveraging his technical and organizational skills to build lasting partnerships. He oversees project activities and community engagement initiatives while fostering collaboration between stakeholders and local groups. His work focuses on aligning project goals with community needs and aspirations, providing strategic direction to navigate complex local dynamics, and implementing proactive solutions to emerging challenges. Massilon’s leadership focuses on maximizing impact in human rights promotion, democratic values, and sustainable development through data-driven decision making and community-centered approaches. His combination of technical knowledge and human rights expertise enables FOA to effectively bridge technological solutions with grassroots advocacy.

Hanna Yamir | Associate Editor & Grant Manager 

With a decade of experience in non-profit work, international development, and peacebuilding, Hanna brings strategic insight to complex global challenges. As Associate Editor and Grant Manager, she coordinates project implementation while ensuring effective stakeholder collaboration. Her expertise in both editorial oversight and project management strengthens FOA’s ability to drive sustainable change through clear communication and structured program delivery. In her dual role, she oversees grant writing, reporting, and management while maintaining editorial standards across FOA’s communications and publications. Her deep understanding of international development enables her to align project goals with donor requirements and organizational mission.

Osvaldo de Almeida | Project Assistant Coordinator 

A recent law graduate from Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University in Angola, Osvaldo oversees critical operational and logistical functions at FOA. He manages project budgets, procurement processes, and inventory while coordinating seamless communication between team members, stakeholders, and clients. His legal background adds valuable perspective to contract management and compliance matters. Through comprehensive technical and administrative support, Osvaldo ensures efficient project execution and team coordination across all initiatives.

Pedro Gonga | Media Coordinator 

A committed pro-democracy activist, Pedro joined FOA as a volunteer and advanced to Media Coordinator. He brings expertise in media relations, advertising, and digital marketing to oversee FOA’s communications strategy. Since 2018, he has managed public relations campaigns and media engagement, ensuring FOA’s message reaches target audiences effectively across traditional and digital platforms.

Gonçalves Vieira | Media Assistant

A journalist with over 5 years of experience, Gonçalves has served as FOA’s media consultant since 2017. He coordinates Radio Angola and its volunteer network while providing technical support for media relations and public outreach campaigns. His journalism background strengthens FOA’s media presence through strategic communications and campaign management.

Daniel Metiku | Financial Controller

Daniel Metiku brings extensive financial expertise to his role as Controller at Friends of Angola. At FOA he oversees the financial operations with meticulous attention to detail. His responsibilities include ensuring transparent fund management and maintaining rigorous accounting standards. Through his leadership, FOA maintains strong financial oversight and compliance.
